How to Read a Tower Defense Map Before Wave One
Most tower defense losses are decided before the first wave, not during it. When a new map loads, we spend ten seconds just tracing the path with our eyes. Where does it bend? Where do two lanes merge? Those spots are where your damage should live.
Chokepoints are obvious, but the real value is in overlap — a single tower that can hit two path segments does double duty. Look for a tile where the road curves back on itself and plant your strongest tower there.
Resist the urge to spend everything early. In games like Ironvale Siege, an empty wallet on wave five means you can't react to a new enemy type on wave six. Keep a small reserve for surprises.
Finally, watch the sell value. Repositioning a tower one tile can matter more than a full upgrade, and if the game refunds most of the cost, treat placement as flexible, not final.
None of this is fancy. It's just the habit of looking before you build, and it turns frustrating restarts into runs you actually finish.
